If we look for the best intentions in others,
it is easy to understand why some leaders hoping for change and progress (innovation? entrepreneurship?) may unintentionally undermine their organizational visions and squelch talent when TOES AND TURF issues come up ...
But, instead of implicitly or explicitly punishing our most innovative, results oriented talent ...
we may want to break out the love and bandages for those feeling "hurt" and, then,
protect our innovators.
protect our innovators.
If our focus is more on the protection of those most resistant to change who seek the comfort of the past, well defined boxes, and hierarchy, we're likely on our way to the deadly,
but temporarily sniffle-free, Zone of the Status Quo.
but temporarily sniffle-free, Zone of the Status Quo.
If we have compassion, we don't like being uncomfortable or seeing others uncomfortable.
But, we have to be brave and demonstrate leadership, too !
We can find ways to comfort the fearful into the courage it takes to pursue and embrace change.
We can lead entrepreneurial change and propel innovation toward our ultimate visions ~
